Paddling Adventures

Most of the paddling routes shown on our maps are supplemented with detailed written descriptions compiled by our team of outdoor writers and researches. These descriptions fill you in on the best access points or river put-in and take-out locations, the length of a paddling route and more. We also include paddling tips for canoeing and kayaking in each particular region, and Mapbook users can easily reference the written descriptions to the maps found at the front of the book. Within the descriptions, we use a modified version of the international scale to grade rivers – the grade of a run tells you how difficult overall a stretch of river is, while class rates individual rapids, chutes and other features.
