Trail Adventures

These durable, spiral bound 21.5 x 28 cm (8.5 x 11 in) Mapbooks show you all the trails for backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ATVing and snowmobiling, with clearly marked trailheads and additional features such as viewpoints, campsites, backcountry huts, fishing lakes and rivers, waterfalls, big trees and more. Industry-leading topographic relief and shading ensure you know what to expect from the terrain along your trail, and we map every creek and stream so you don’t have any unexpected water crossings.

Many of the trails shown on our maps are supplemented with written descriptions compiled by our team of outdoor writers and researchers. These descriptions include information on access, trail distance, difficulty, elevation gain, highlights and more. The descriptions also include easy-to-read activity symbols, so you can tell at a glance what type of trail users can explore a particular trail, and each description is referenced to the maps found at the front of the book.

Top of the World Provincial Park (Map 16,24)
The high alpine setting makes this park a spectacular hiking destination with the Hughes Range forming the backdrop to the west and the Van Nostrand Range dominated by Mount Morro, at 2,912 metres, framing the east. Since most of its terrain is above the 2,200 metre (7,200 ft) level, the numerous hiking opportunities do not become accessible until early June or after November (for backcountry skiers). Fish Lake is the hub of the park and has a cabin as well as numerous designated campsites, accessed by an easy 6.7 km (4.2 mi) trail. From here, trails lead to Coyote Creek (7 km/4.3 mi), Sparkle Lake (2.8 km), Wildhorse Ridge (3.2 km/2 mi) and beyond. Be prepared for all types of weather and have proper backcountry supplies. The main trailhead is accessed off the South Lussier River Road to the north. Current information on the park trails can be found at env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/top_world/trail_report.pdf.
