Kokanee Glacier Cabin (Map 12/F2)
Opened in 2003, this hut sits on the shores of Kaslo Lake in Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park. Access to the cabin is via a moderate 7 km (4.3 mi) trail in summer. In winter, the high avalanche risk makes the area helicopter-access only. The gorgeous cabin can hold up to 20 people in summer, 15 in winter and offers mattress pads, a fully equipped kitchen, flush toilets, internet and electric light and heat. In summer, you may be lucky enough to walk-in; in winter you will need to enter a lottery months in advance. Summer visitors should protect their vehicle from porcupines with chicken wire.
