Dale Tober is Backroad Mapbooks’ senior cartographer and the longest-standing employee in the mapping department. Dale has watched Backroad Mapbooks grow from its days of half a dozen people in a two-room office (with an in-house printer) to the ever-expanding company it is today. Specializing in print projects, Dale brings nearly 20 years of experience to the team at Backroad Mapbooks.

A true map aficionado, Dale explains that, back in the day, both European royalty and Eastern emperors hired cartographers to assist in military strategies. Dale thus views his vocation as an ancient art form, one that he enjoys bringing into the 21st century onto users’ GPS units and tablets.
